Well i just thought I'd give everyone a synopsis on my fun but busy Christmas season. Christmas shopping was absolutely hectic. It took more than a few days to find the perfect presents for all of my friends and family. It was a little easier getting around to shop this year, now that I have my own set of wheels. Oh yeah did I ever mention that I got my first car around February of 2002, a silver two-door Dodge Neon Sport. It seemed I just had to have these swirly blue and black decals added on the sides. So I did. For Christmas I received an abundance of gifts, but my absolute favorite was my brand new laptop!! Woohoo! I wanted one so bad for the past year, and I believe this Christmas was the perfect time to get one, being that I'm now a senior in High School, and hope to further my education at college next year. Another highlight of the season was a fabulous Winter Prom which I attended with a friend of mine. It was a perfect event for the season including a sumptuous dinner, décor inspired by the winter solstice and entertainment.
December I also received two awards, first I was presented with a plaque for being outstanding student of the arts at my high school by the Tri-Valley Lions Club. Bill Perkins, a veteran and organizer for Toys for Tots drove to our house from Elizabethtown to present a plaque on behalf of the Lancaster County Detachment Marine Corps League honoring me for my two performances. I was featured artist at two of their benefits, i.e. their Pig Roast at Columbia, as well as a concert at Elizabethtown. It was nice having Bill visit over the holidays , as well as my photographer , Bob Delong from Allentown . Fred Clousher, my booking agent also dropped by along with known accomplice Charlie (AKA Harold, last name not known). It was nice seeing all you guys over the holidays but wow, do you always need to arrive bearing gifts? You know how I just hate it when you come bearing gifts!!! I’ll just have to learn to live with it I guess.
. Along with David Rojahn, an absolutely zany magician/comedian, I performed at the Lighthouse Restaurant, near Chambersburg . It was a private Christmas party for Saylor’s Market of Newville. As requested, my show consisted of a country / pop/ Christmas song mixture. It was gratifying to have Craig and two of the other honchos from Saylors come up on stage to sing and dance, and put on wigs when I sang Shania’s “Man , I Feel Like a Woman “. The crowd went wild as these boys really hammed it up. Some of you have seen me bring volunteers on stage for this song before. For those of you who haven’t, guess what words of the song I had them sing? Well duhh , that was easy. I also was among the performers at the Valley View New Year's Eve Musicfest, an event organized by a tireless lady from the Philippine Islands, my mother Roxanne. Christmas Eve, I sang a medley of Christmas music almost operatic in nature at my home church in Valley View. My piano/vocal tutor, Valeria Eshelman has been helping me learn the piece. I really love to sing at my church, especially on Christmas Eve. I always feel like it's a little something I can give back to the church.
I also had the privilege of attending a concert featuring "Kohl & Co." and "Tyrone's World" at Lancaster, which my agent, Fred Clousher, had booked. I first saw Tyrone perform at the 2003 Fair Convention in Hershey last January, so I knew I was in for a treat. Tyrone is an overly talented ventriloquist; he has a large case of dummies who gain personality once he takes them out. I think my favorite dummy of his is “jellybean”. Nobody seems to mind my calling his characters dummies, certain people, however … .
By the way, what happened to the snow on Christmas? We didn't get any! Well all in all, my Christmas was great, it may have been one of the best yet. I performed at and attended exciting concerts and events, received THE perfect gifts, and spent lots of time with my friends and family. However, the season is now over, and it’s back to school again, recovering from the abundancy of excitement, relaxation, and especially the traditional rich and fattening holiday foods, which have been an omnipresent temptation the last few weeks. Looks like it's time to re-acquaint myself with the Treadmill!... Or as my friends and I call it, the Dreadmill!
This is to wish you guys , especially my fans, a wonderful year 2004 ,I hope to see you at the show. It’s past midnight, tomorrow is school , I’d best go to bed or I’ll be a fool , (and you know that just ain’t cool . ) p.s. and to all a goooooood night!
Love, Jasmine
